Craps

First, the aim of the Craps game: Players bet on or against numbers or number combinations being rolled on a pair of six-sided dice.

In casino craps, the participants put their bets and the casino bank "covers" them. In addition to covering every player's bet, the casino-banked craps game offers many other types of proposition bets. These bets, among with the fundamental "pass" and "don't pass" bets, will be all clarified.

The "boxman", who sits behind the middle of the craps table, is the boss. He keeps a constant watch over the craps game.

The 2 dealers on each side of him pay off the winners and "rake" in the losers' chips. Each dealer handles all the craps participants on his side. The craps board is divided by the midpoint box of proposition bets and also by the "stickman", who stands on the participants' side of the craps desk.

The "stickman", who controls the action of the craps dice and the speed of the craps game. After seeing all craps bets are down, the stickman pushes a couple of sets of dice to the shooter. That participants selects a pair of dice and is set to throw them across the craps board so that they smack the wall at the far end. If, on the first roll, you nominate a 11 or 7, you've got a "natural" and you are the winner. What you win is the exact amount of chips you have bet on the pass line. If you roll a 2, 3 or 12 on your first pitch, that is called "craps" and you unfortunately lose. The dealer picks up your pass-line bet. However, the shooter does not relinquish the dice. He resumes to throw until he "sevens out". If, on the first throw, you shoot a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10, that is your established "box point." The goal then is to maintain rolling the dice until you get that figure again. You lose, however, if you throw a seven prior to making your box point.

Craps stratergy

Choosing the Correct Bets : A vital feature of an efficient craps strategy involves a good understanding of the smart bets on the table. This is actually easier that it sounds.

There are a limited number of bets in which the house has a low edge in the game of Craps. You may refer to our Craps probabilities page to familiarize yourself with each bet and its odds. Broadly speaking, it is a good idea to stick with pass line bets backed by free odds, come bets backed by free odds, and place bets on the six or eight. You can also benefit from learning to hedge your bets when you are to make more complicated wagers, but remember there is no perfect strategy!

Generally speaking, if you opt for a hedge betting approach, it decreases the volatility of the game significantly while significantly limiting your potential wins. In a nutshell, if you happen to be a hedge better, there will not be as many down-spells that could bottom out your bankroll. If you are winning, however, you will end up with less than you would have without hedging.
